A photoshop video on Youtube going through the roof

April last year, I posted a video tutorial on Youtube. It was my first tutorial in english, which doesn't come as a great surprise to those who watch it.

It had been generating a decent amount of views, but then all of a sudden this year, the amount of viewers started to climb.

1. October 2011, It had 250,000 views - one month later 500,000. At this point, it's generating about 8,000 views a day which is pretty damn good for a photoshop video on the internet.

Why so many viewers? I haven't got the slightest idea - but it's pretty darn awesome, and has definately inspired me to start doing more.

So if you have advices for any good screen capture software available out there, write it in the comments.

And what should I make a tutorial about next time?

Michael Bang, Kira Eggers and I

A week ago or so, Michael Bang called me and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.

The 14. of May, Mr. Bang will be doing one of his great and always sold out workshops where he discusses and shows lighting, business and work with live models.

To spice up things, he's invited the danish celebrity model Kira Eggers, who will be telling about modelling, the business, how good photographers work and so on.

I've been invited to do a walkthrough of my workflow in Photoshop to add the final flavour of what seems to be an awesome day.

Check it out on

And oh yeah - you can actually win free access to the workshop right here:

Flashing Photoshop skills

Do you know fstoppers.com? If you're reading my blog, something tells me you're into photography, and if you're in to photography, you really Should know fstoppers.com. It is by far, the best and most informative website with bts-videoes, competitions and all sorts of inspiring stuff.

For instance, they just launched a photoshop competition where you had 72 hours to edit a photo - this one

With me being sick these cold winter days, I thought to myself - why not give it a go, so I did:

I spend about 30 minutes extracting him from the background and removing the wires - then I went through my stack of street images from Copenhagen, and found this one.

I added a phony sky (I love them dramatic clouds) a stock image of a river, and the rest was just details.

Video tutorial: Portrait of Kasper Købke

Earlier this summer I did a photo shoot with danish upcoming artist Kasper Købke, an amazing artist who does drawings in huge proportions as you can see HERE.

A reader of the blog asked me how I did this specific image in the postprocessing, so I decided to show it in this walkthrough video - enjoy:

Photoshop: selection and extraction techniques

Photoshop can be used for many things regarding retouching and image optimization, but when it comes to photo manipulations, extracting parts of images and making composites plays quite a big role.

As with everything in photoshop, there are many ways to make selections and do background extractions.

You might know the old extraction tool which has been excluded in cs 4 and 5.

You might know magic wand tool and it's successor quick selection tool.

But there are also things like color range - using channels - background eraser tool.

Here's a quite useful link going in-depth with the different ways to make selections and extract along with guides to the specific tools used.

Photoshop competition – the winner is

A few weeks ago I made a post where you could download an image and expose to your own dose of Photoshop.

Here are those who took up the challenge

Jimmi Larsen

Troels WeinreichHelle HarmsLonghorn

I most admit I had somegood  laughs over this, and having to pick a winner was harder than I had thought.

Each photo has it's own charm, which I'm pretty sure you can all see, but the winner photo took the elements and used them in a quite different context which made me laugh the most - and when it all comes down, this competition was about that - humour.

And with those words said, I am proud to announc that

Jimmi Larsen is the winner with this fantastic Ballet intepretation.

He managed to use the new puppet warp tool to it's fullest effect which made this quite hilarious image - congratulations - you've just won a 50% discount on my upcoming courses!
