Michael Bang, Kira Eggers and I
A week ago or so, Michael Bang called me and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.
The 14. of May, Mr. Bang will be doing one of his great and always sold out workshops where he discusses and shows lighting, business and work with live models.
To spice up things, he's invited the danish celebrity model Kira Eggers, who will be telling about modelling, the business, how good photographers work and so on.
I've been invited to do a walkthrough of my workflow in Photoshop to add the final flavour of what seems to be an awesome day.

And oh yeah - you can actually win free access to the workshop right here:

Retouching – a video with some useful tips
It's no secret I really love browsing that big old internet for useful stuff.
And hey, look what I found - it's a very useful video om a retoucher explaining how he does retouching on skin using dodge and burn amongst other things.

Shortcuts In Photoshop

Do you keep forgetting them damned shortcuts when working in Photoshop? I know I do, and it slows down my workshop somewhat significantly.
I stumbled upon this fun post, where the most used and useful shortcuts where accompanied by a small illustration.
Do yourself a favour it check it out right here
Flashing Photoshop skills
Do you know fstoppers.com? If you're reading my blog, something tells me you're into photography, and if you're in to photography, you really Should know fstoppers.com. It is by far, the best and most informative website with bts-videoes, competitions and all sorts of inspiring stuff.
For instance, they just launched a photoshop competition where you had 72 hours to edit a photo - this one
With me being sick these cold winter days, I thought to myself - why not give it a go, so I did:
I spend about 30 minutes extracting him from the background and removing the wires - then I went through my stack of street images from Copenhagen, and found this one.
I added a phony sky (I love them dramatic clouds) a stock image of a river, and the rest was just details.
Photoshop: selection and extraction techniques
Photoshop can be used for many things regarding retouching and image optimization, but when it comes to photo manipulations, extracting parts of images and making composites plays quite a big role.
As with everything in photoshop, there are many ways to make selections and do background extractions.
You might know the old extraction tool which has been excluded in cs 4 and 5.
You might know magic wand tool and it's successor quick selection tool.
But there are also things like color range - using channels - background eraser tool.
Here's a quite useful link going in-depth with the different ways to make selections and extract along with guides to the specific tools used.
Photoshop Competition
Here's the deal. Download this image HERE, grind it through photoshop and enter the competition of winning a spot on my Photoshop workshop in September to the crazy price of 250 DKK instead of the full prize

Stock lens flares – from me to you
Have you ever been sitting editing a photo and all you needed was that final lense flare in the glasses to make the image PERFECT?
Well, so have I, and for ages I've used flare brushes, but non of them seem to do it that great.
So I decided to make stock lenses which I and everyone else are free to use as they please.
Below you can see an example, and it's quite easy to make your own if you have a flash.
What i did was to place it my livingroom (daytime) turned up my aperture to around f20 (to get the starlike shape) and shot some images with the room darkened through camera settings.
If you did it correct, you'll end up with a shot like this one (I've added some contrast to my final images).
Now to use them in photoshop - import them to an image and set the blending mode of this layer to SCREEN in order to exclude all the black.

Time lapse photoshop video – my second
After having done my first time lapse photoshop video, I've decided to play around with it a bit from time to time. When I get bored, I either watch Angel online (yes, it's my secret vice) or edit photosfor the fun of it. So I thought to myself - what the hell, why not just record a time lapse everytime i do so.
So here we are with my second time lapse video
